Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid derived from Cannabis species. CBD does not have psychoactive activity, but has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antineoplastic and chemopreventive activities. CBD is one of over 140 compounds found in cannabis called phytocannabinoids. CBD is non-psychoactive due to its lack of affinity for CB1 receptors, which are found in high concentrations in the brain, and which are responsible for the psychoactive effects of THC.

CBD oil is a viscous liquid derived from the hemp plant. The hemp flower contains trichomes, which are glands that contain essential oils, terpenes, and phtyocannabinoids. There are many ways to extract oil from the plant, including CO2 extraction and solvent-based extraction. Ethanol extraction is the most common solvent used because it is efficient in extracting hemp oil, and is easily distilled off to produce pure hemp oil. CO2 extraction methods employ a combination of temperature and pressure to extract hemp oil from the plant. The resultant oil produced by both extraction methods contain numerous phytocannabinoids, terpenes, vitamins and amino acids. Some hemp oils may have slight color differences, which is usually a result of variation in crop environment, extraction techniques used, or different carrier oils used in the specific formulation. The current widely-accepted hypothesis is that the complete, or full-spectrum, combination of phytocannabinoids in hemp oil creates an “entourage effect”, where the mixture of cannabinoids has a greater therapeutic benefit than CBD alone.

Hemp and marijuana are both part of the cannabis family of plants. Cannabis is one of the oldest domesticated plants in history. Whereas hemp plants were cultivated for industrial uses (rope, fiber, textiles), marijuana plants have been cultivated for their psychoactive properties. The main difference between hemp and marijuana is in their genetic background and agricultural environment. Another major difference between hemp and marijuana is in their THC content. Marijuana plants have been bred to produce more potent varieties with high THC content (10-30%), whereas hemp plants have only trace amounts of THC (<0.3%).

Our Super CBD tinctures have one of the highest concentrations of CBD on the market, while also keeping compliant with regulations requiring <0.3% levels of THC. All of our CBD products are formulated using 100% cold-processed hemp oil, which contains the full-spectrum of bioactive phytocannabinoids and phytonutrients, but is free of extraneous plant material such as waxes and chlorophylls. The resultant oil is a robust and natural oil that is loaded with CBD and contaminant-free. All of  MJ BioEssentials CBD products are 3rd party tested by a state certified lab, to ensure an accurate amount of CBD and to be free of pesticides, herbicides, mold, fungi, heavy metals, and mycotoxins. Please contact us for current lab test results.

Hemp contains only trace amounts of THC (<0.3%), the psychoactive component of marijuana. Therefore, it will not get you high. CBD is the main phytocannabinoid in hemp, and is not psychoactive.

Once the CBD product is open, it is recommended that you store in a cool, dry and dark place. Storage in a refrigerator is not necessary, but may prevent heat-related breakdown if you live in a hot environment. Keep tinctures completely capped to prevent exposure to air-borne bacteria or fungal spores, and clean the dropper after each use to prevent contamination. Our CBD products have a shelf life of 18-24 months if you follow these guidelines.

When you take CBD sublingually (let it absorb under the tongue), it is absorbed by the mucous membrane, which speeds up how quickly it enters the bloodstream. When you take CBD orally, it is absorbed by the small intestine and then metabolized by liver enzymes. As a result, the time it takes CBD to enter the bloodstream is longer, and due to its metabolism, the amount of CBD is greatly reduced. In addition, the metabolites of CBD due to liver enzymes, 7-hydroxy-CBD and 6-hydroxy-CBD, may not produce the same effects as intact CBD.

It depends on your daily dose of CBD, your body mass index and weight, as well as how long you have been taking CBD. Unfortunately, the miniscule amount of THC in our CBD oil, although BELOW the Federal legal limit <0.3%), will build up and stay in your system for weeks. You will NOT get high on this amount at all, but you MAY still test positive. This is a major flaw in our legal system, one that should finally be changed in the near future as marijuana legalization is growing by states and countries. Contact your politicians and tell them you support marijuana legalization!

Hemp oils may have slight color differences, which is usually a result of variation in crop environment, extraction techniques used, or different carrier oils used in the specific formulation. The taste or color will have no effect on the benefits of the CBD oil if you are purchasing from a reputable source.

Laws regarding the legal use of CBD vary among the states. Hemp and marijuana both come from the cannabis plant. However, hemp is typically distinguished by its physical appearance and lower concentration of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Click on the link to see the laws in your state.
